As joint venture partners of Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the CEDIA team continues to spread glad tidings as it prepares for another bumper education programme at ISE 2017. Exclusively for SVI, Matt Nimmons, Operations Director at CEDIA EMEA, highlights one course for each day of the show that should not be missed.
CEDIA is once again hosting an extensive education programme for ISE 2017, designed to boost technical skills and help drive business improvements for home technology professionals across the region. CEDIA education will be on offer from Monday 6th – Thursday 9th February. Attendees can access more than 30 high quality training sessions at the RAI in Amsterdam, covering a vast and varied range of topics.

Starting with a bang, CEDIA’s first course at ISE 2017 is one of the most popular CEDIA training sessions, ‘Home Cinema Design Workshop’. This interactive full day workshop combines teaching in the morning with an afternoon of practical design, working on real world projects. This course is ideal for attendees with some experience in the specification, design and installation of home cinemas. The course will be hosted by experienced CEDIA instructor and Managing Director at Imagine This, Guy Singleton. Participants are welcome to bring designs that they are currently working on for the design practical part of the class.

For the first time ever at ISE, the renowned U.S. business guru and CEDIA fellow, Leslie Shiner will present her renowned course, titled ‘Warning! Avoid these 10 Simple Things That Can Put You Out of Business’. This is a must attend event for all businesses who want to avoid basic and preventable business mishaps from occurring and ensure that their company is secure for the future. Leslie will provide attendees with a checklist of ten items that must be focused on and prioritised to keep a business afloat, as well as how to rectify things when they may go wrong. Topics covered will include the importance and best practice in insurance, internal controls and margin analysis.

Sam Woodward from Lutron EA Ltd will take to the CEDIA stage to host ‘Lighting Control and the IoT’. Clients love intelligent lighting systems, but as technology continues to evolve at a rapid rate, how do you create a control system that works in harmony with the property’s lighting scheme to deliver an easy to use, energy efficient and secure connected home? Participants to this course will find out how to specify, design and install an intelligent lighting control system that will improve a client’s wellbeing and add value to your business. As one of the last courses of ISE 2017, CEO of Josh.ai, Alex Capacelatro, will take to the stage to talk all things voice control. Voice control is the new frontier in input technologies and represents a significant business opportunity for home technology professionals. This 90min session, titled ‘Integrating Voice Control for the Whole Home’, will inform attendees on the available voice control options today, the current capabilities and limitations of the various technologies and take a close look at real world installations, with insights into how these projects were realised. Attendees will learn how to deploy voice recognition and provide clients with a fully customised experience, even in complex installations.

All places in CEDIA’s ISE 2017 professional development programme are available for pre-booking. Attendees are able to take advantage of a discounted ISE 2017 Training Pass, entitling entry to unlimited CEDIA education sessions at the event (exclusions apply) at an early bird discount price of €275 for CEDIA members (€350 for non-CEDIA members). Individual classes from the CEDIA ISE 2017 Training programme are also available for attendees to take, all at low early bird rates until 15th January 2017.
As well as learning the latest skills, visitors to ISE will also have the opportunity to take CEDIA’s highly respected Electronic Systems Technician (ESC-T), Designer (ESC-D), and Networking Specialist (ESC-N) Certification examinations on Thursday 9th February from 14:00-16:30 in room D303.
