Nominations for the 2019-2020 Board of Directors.

Dear CEDIA Member:

I am reaching out to you today to let you know that we have opened nominations for the 2019-2020 Board of Directors. This has been an incredible year for CEDIA as we have rolled out a new strategic plan that will be guiding the organization forward. The new plan has a strong focus on education, industry standards and best practices, and building awareness among design and build professionals. 

As a member you can be part of defining the future and continued success of the organization by helping identify the leaders who can bring new perspectives to the table. Strong leadership is critical to the success of any organization. CEDIA's volunteer Board of Directors influences the direction of the industry, governs the association's activities, and represents the residential technology profession to the outside world. 

The CEDIA Board is made up with regional representation that reflects the geographical density of the membership. In keeping with the terms of the global integration, the 2019 board composition (including existing and new directors) will reflect one-third EMEA directors and the remaining directors representing members across the globe. For the 2019-2020 term, there are six (6) open board seats. On behalf of the CEDIA board, I invite you to nominate candidates for the 2018-2019 term.

Elected Directors: CEDIA members will vote to fill five (5) elected positions. Home Technology Professional members who are employees of a member company may be nominated, vetted by the Governance Committee, and proposed as candidates for the global membership vote. The vacancies this election cycle may be filled by one (1) CEDIA member in the EMEA region and four (4) from the rest of the global membership. Elected board members will be announced immediately after the election and seated on January 1, 2019.

Appointed Directors: All other member types (manufacturers, service providers, etc.) and additional Home Technology Professionals are eligible for appointment to the Board of Directors. There is one (1) open appointed position open for the 2019-2020 term to be filled from the EMEA region. The CEDIA Governance Committee reviews candidates based on the skills needed and makes a recommendation to the Board, who vote to approve the appointment. This process runs in parallel with the election, with the appointments occurring at the January 2019 board meeting. 

Candidates should possess strong leadership qualities, vision, and industry perspective. The nominee will be considered for the ballot if the candidate agrees to the terms and conditions of board service and meets the required criteria.

The Board election process is governed and outlined by CEDIA's bylaws. Voting will be open from September 6 to October 19, 2018: All member types, whether integrator, manufacturer, service provider or other, may vote, and each member company has one vote.
